Cubby House Challenge- Cedar Woods

Story

The Grubby

'The Grubby' is your very own sanctuary. It's your house in the woods, it's your tool box, it's your escape, it's whatever you want it to be. With a unique design based on children's building blocks, kids are encouraged to immerse themselves in a world that they build themselves with the aid of items such as an interactive pegboard, climbing net, dress-ups, chalkboards and other numerous activites.

Child-friendly materials such as ply wood and timber pegs have been utilised in the build of the cubby house, complementing the natural, Nordic theme seen throughout.

The Grubby will no doubt be a welcome addition into any backyard, but prepare yourselves for many curious little visitors.

"The Cubby House Challenge seemed the perfect opportunity for the Cedar Woods team to band together and utlisise our skills in order to help those in need. Kids Under Cover provides an important community service, and we are extremely excited to present 'The Grubby', and raise some much needed funds for what is a fantastic organisation and cause" Stephen Jones, Cedar Woods Marketing Manager.

The 2014 cubby houses will be on display at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show from March 26 to 30.

Cedar Woods would like to thank all our sponsors who have made this project possible.

    Kids Under Cover

Being homeless can happen to anyone.

On any given night, there are more than 116,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia and nearly half of these are under the age of 25.*

For more than 30 years, Kids Under Cover has been working to prevent youth homelessness.

We know that if young people are not properly supported when they first experience homelessness, they have a higher chance of becoming homeless in their adult lives. Around 40% of homeless adults were first homeless as young people.**

In our work, we focus on early identification and prevention of youth homelessness, creating a proactive rather than a reactive approach to this very complex issue. We do this by building homes and providing scholarships for homeless and at-risk young people.
